Downtown Development
The Downtown Development Council is dedicated to ensuring the
vitality of the “hilltop to hilltop” downtown district.
The downtown connects the cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette and
Purdue University together. From the Village District at the top of
Chauncey Hill in West Lafayette, across the Wabash River, to the
five-point intersection at the crest of the Upper Main Historic
District in Lafayette, the downtown encompasses everything from
unique, locally-owned shops and restaurants to nationally recognized
chains. This is Tippecanoe County’s center of commerce with
thousands of professionals, working for banks, firms and government
offices located within blocks of the courthouse square.
The DDC:
Conducts regular meetings for networking and informative
presentations.
Brings together government officials, business leaders and property
owners to work cooperatively in revitalizing the Lafayette-West
Lafayette downtown.
Helps retain and recruit quality businesses and jobs.
Plans annual festivals including Dancing in the Streets, the Uptown
Jazz & Blues Festival, Dickens of a Christmas, the Christmas Parade,
weekly summer Brown Bag Concert Series, the Farmers’ Market and
more.
