Discount Program
. Do you have a service or product
you’d like to share with our membership?
The Lafayette-West Lafayette Development Corporation and
Chamber of Commerce
are now working on a new benefit for 2008…a member to member
discount program! We
are currently developing our member’s only section of the website;
upon its completion we will be able to give
our members a username and password to access the services and
products of our members.
It will be available to print out and use at participating
businesses.

Head
Downtown for Spring Open House March 21-22. The Downtown
Development Council is helping bring spring to town! Downtown
businesses will host open houses on March 21 and 22. Events include
free carriage rides Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown
Lafayette
and a pre-Easter mini Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to noon on
Saturday.
Toast
the Teachers April 17. Chamber members are
invited to the Golden Apple Dinner, Thursday, April 17, at 5:30 p.m.

26. Five middle and high school teachers will be honored. Cost is

Salute Students April 22. Forty-nine
local high school students will each receive a Career Tech Award and
$50 savings bond during ceremonies at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, in
the NCHS Auditorium in Ivy Hall at
Ivy
Tech
Community College
. Chamber members are invited to the free reception to cheer on
these students chosen by their industrial technology teachers for
their positive attitude, good attendance, application of skills,
initiative, adaptability and ability to follow directions. Ivy Tech
Chancellor David Bathe will make brief remarks. This is the
Chamber’s ninth year giving the awards.
Help Us Bloom! The
Chamber would like to see our communities win top awards in the “
America
in Bloom” contest, and we need your help. Our cities will be
judged on floral displays, environmental awareness, landscaped
areas, tidiness, urban forestry, heritage preservation, turf and
groundcovers, and community involvement. Learn more about this

Economic Trends Reports Robust 2007. The Yearend 2007 Economic
Trends just published by the Lafayette-West Lafayette
Development Corp. (click

to view or print) details news on expansions at
more than a dozen industries, employment increases of 983 at SIA and
300 at Caterpillar, more than $402 million in healthcare
construction, five new hotels announced or underway, and news from
Purdue Research Park.
Nominate
a Small Business. Put your favorite small business in the
spotlight by nominating it for the Chamber’s Small Business of the
Month Award. Businesses must be under current ownership at least
three years, employ 25 or fewer, and be active in the Chamber and
community. Already this year, Lafayette Glass Co. Inc. and Skylight

Ambassador
of the Month
. Our
Ambassadors work very hard to help maintain positive relationships
with our member businesses and contacts.
They take time out of their busy schedules to attend ribbon
cuttings and grand opening events.
They help retain and recruit new businesses.
To honor of their hard work we are now going to award one
Ambassador each month with a new award…Ambassador of the Month.
