Chamber Information

Divisions

Business & Industry Division

  • Industrial Program Committee: Meet and learn the needs of the industrial community by helping to plan a monthly luncheon program which features a speaker from a local manufacturer.  Meets: Monthly, 3rd Friday, 11:45 at the Lafayette Country Club.

  • Small Business Committee: Advocate for pro-business legislation, have input into who is chosen as the small business of the month & year, and help  plan seminars that benefit the small business community. Annually coordinates Small Business Day at the Statehouse.

Quality of Life Division

  • Community Appearance Task Force: Works to support and assist in approving the overall appearance of Greater Lafayette. Gives public recognition for attractive landscaping; promotes projects to create a better community appearance.

  • Business and Cultural Partnership Committee (BCPC): Strive to increase public awareness of the dynamic role the arts and humanities play in the quality of life in Greater Lafayette. 

  • Diversity Roundtable: To provide diversity leadership within the Lafayette , West Lafayette , and Tippecanoe County and promote strategies to achieve a culture that values diversity as evidenced by attitudes, policies, and practices.

Education Division

  • Education Committee: Recognizes the importance of education and academic excellence and annually presents the Golden Apple Awards to outstanding teachers in the community. Oversees the Career Tech Awards and the School Tours programs. Works closely with the local school corporations in an effort to continually support the quality of education. 

  • University Relations Committee: A link between Purdue University and the Greater Lafayette business community. Hosts an annual Football Kickoff Luncheon, sponsors an annual economic outlook forum, and presents various academic and athletic awards. 

  • Health Care Committee: Reviews the Greater Lafayette healthcare delivery system and strives to keep the business community educated and informed. 

Government Affairs Division

  • Federal Government Committee: Have input on federal issues that affect the Greater Lafayette community and travel to Washington, D.C. in the Spring and present the Chamber's position papers to our legislators. 

  • State and Local Government Committee: Study and prioritize state an local issues of particular concern to local business. Recommend action to the Chamber board and to the Chamber membership. Identify specific issues and make studies of government needs. 

  • Third House: Throughout the legislative season, the Chamber conducts its Third House. These weekly sessions provide area legislators the opportunity to address issues of concern for area businesses and the community. 

Infrastructure Division

  • Environmental Quality Committee: Provide input on the community's needs for solid waste management, clean air, and other environmental issues affecting the businesses of Greater Lafayette. 

  • Transportation Committee: Identify, support, and work with local transportation officials for excellence of roads, air travel, signalization, signage, and railroads. Two subcommittees of this committee focus on the US 231 relocation and the growth area on St. Rd. 26 East. 

  • Water Committee: Devotes special attention to the responsibilities and possible solutions to supply, development, pollution, and restoration of all local water, drainage, and sewage treatment needs. 

Membership Division

  • Ambassadors Committee: This is the welcoming arm of the Chamber for new members and prospective members. It develops programs to assist membership retention; presents First Dollar of Profit Certificates to new firms; and provides welcoming activities and Business After Hours on behalf of the Chamber membership. 

  • Annual Dinner Committee: Select next year's speaker or entertainment while deciding how you and other Chamber volunteers should be recognized. A subcommittee of this group chooses the Grand Marquis Award recipient. 

  • Annual Golf Outing Committee: Network with other business golfers while organizing this popular event. 

  • Business Expo Committee: Be part of the team that organizes and helps promote this event that is held annually in the spring.
